When Gerald Greiner walked into his first job as a safety manager for Eisenmann Corporation, a subcontractor building the paint shop at the Mercedes plant in Vance Alabama back in 2013, he was surprised to see Eastern Europeans pouring concrete, erecting steel and fitting pipe at the company's expansion project. "There was Polish and Slovenian and Croatian people there it was hard for me to believe because I just didn't understand why they would be here," Greiner told "CBSN On Assignment" correspondent Vladimir Duthiers during an interview at a neighborhood park near Greiner's home in San Jose, California.
"The cars will be built by American workers. It's just the building of these plants that is being done by foreigners?" Duthiers asked. "Exactly, they come in at groundbreaking," Greiner said of the Europeans who work on the construction of the auto plants. "They're done at start of production."
"Did you think to yourself that the jobs these guys were doing could be done by Americans?" Duthiers asked. "Absolutely, yes," Greiner said.

The Latino illegals won’t be too happy about this.
Interesting article. Gotta say I don’t have a problem with this, if true.
A company hires a low-bid contractor with experience , contractor gets job done within budget. If the employees were here legally and they chose to accept the pay and working conditions, more power to them.
We have enough Americans to build all the factories we need. No need to import anyone at this point.
“Your post tells me you probably didn’t vote for Trump.”
You’d be very hard-pressed to find another FReeper who supported Trump before I did.
Trump would NOT want imported workers building a factory in the USA.
I wonder if Trump had any immigrant labor contribute to all the property he built in the USA.
Who cares? He knows it is bad for America. I used smoke, now I don’t.
You didn’t build that.
Congratulations on quitting smoking! How did you do it?
The same way Trump quit using foreign labor. Cold turkey.
At the Bildeberg meeting in 1991 David Rockefeller walked up to Bill Clinton and asked him what he thought about NAFTA.
Clinton replied, “If it’s important to you, Mr Rockefeller, it’s important to me.”
Rockefeller replied, “Thank you, Mr President.”
There is also this on why Nixon was removed, or forced to resign. He wouldn’t go along with the oligarchs plans to move US manufacturing to China:
Don’t you get it yet? The US is an oligarchy, just like Russia. When the President gets out of line they either kill him or remove him for fake crimes.
Skilled labor sounds like the kind of people who are welcome in the US, unless I’m misunderstanding the bill Trump is supporting. Besides, when you hire a contractor, you expect the contractor will get the job done on budget. I’ve never seen a building contract that specified that all employees will be American citizens.
These guys were probably hired for skill and experience. They probably weren’t that cheap either.
Largely fake news.
Who do you think built his hotels?

I grew up in an old mill town. Immigrant labor built the mill and made the steel there.
Legal or Illegal?
You mean immigrants actually work? I did not know this. /s/
We don’t hear much about the Immigration Act of 1924 (Johnson-Reed Act) that lasted more than 40 years. Maybe we need a 21st Century version of it. And don’t tell me “That’s not who we are”.
