A century and a half after slavery was abolished in the U.S., the wounds left by one of the darkest periods in American history are far from healed, as evidenced by the controversy surrounding the recent announcement of HBO’s upcoming drama series Confederate, from Game Of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, which explores an alternate timeline of seceded southern states where slavery is legal and has evolved into a modern institution.
It envisions an alternate history where newly freed African Americans have secured the Southern states of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama post-Reconstruction as reparations for slavery, and with that land, the freedom to shape their own destiny. The sovereign nation they formed, New Colonia, has had a tumultuous and sometimes violent relationship with its looming “Big Neighbor,” both ally and foe, the United States. The past 150 years have been witness to military incursions, assassinations, regime change, coups, etc. Today, after two decades of peace with the U.S. and unprecedented growth, an ascendant New Colonia joins the ranks of major industrialized nations on the world stage as America slides into rapid decline. “Post reparations” without the alternate history would look a lot different.
Let’s just say there would be some cost cutting going on.
Or Haiti, or better yet Zimbabwe, where they took a rich country and have driven it to the ground.
That’s what New Colonia would look like.
My favored alternate history story would be a country in which all the slaves were repatriated after the Civil War. A small minority of black Africans would remain because they came here voluntarily before, during and after the war and had the means to survive and thrive on their own. And, best of all, the slaves repatriated to their African countries had leaders who learned how to defend themselves and went on to kill all the muslims back in Africa who rounded them up in the first place.
Absolutely delusional.

Haiti would serve as a perfect model for a “Post Reparations” America.
Their wiccan/witchcraft religion would even fit the mold of the modern liberal post-modern Black American thinker too.

But I would be all in favor of blacks and whites going their own way. It’s been proven beyond any doubt over hundred of years in multiple continents that the two races simply cannot peacefully coexist under the same roof, so why insist on keeping this disaster of a marriage together.
For the good of both people, let them go their separate way. The blacks can run their lives the way they want and then so can the whites.
There are separatist movements in both races, and there are also those that want to stay together. Maybe the best solution is three countries, a black one, a white one and a mixed one.
I would love to see an alternate history show where conservatives run the country instead if liberals and RINOS and the country becomes more prosperous than it is now.

Reparations is nothing but a way to allow minorities to blame their failures on Whitey. The policies of the left have put minorities into an underperforming underclass, with no way out. The left then blamed Whitey, and told minorities that they only had to vote democrat and they would be OK.
The only way to turn minorities into high-performing Americans is to eliminate all race-based preferences (college, jobs, government contracting, and more). Stop blaming their failures on Whitey. Put the race-industry CEO’s in jail (jackson, sharpton, and more).

A much better scenario would be:
Lincoln survives.
Sends all blacks/Africans back to Africa/Liberia.
Africans are ecstatic and thankful to be back in their hellhole.
America prospers big time. Minuscule welfare state. Crime almost non existent.
And Africans are so glad to be home.
Now that would be a great alt history story!
