The Oliver North hearings were the start of my political awakening. I watched him in one of them and thought he came across as sincere and honest...a Boy Scout. But I watched the news later that night and their description of him and his testimony was vile and vicious. That was when I realized that the “news” is no such thing...it’s propaganda.

I actually attended the hearing. North should have been court martialed and jailed. Never like him since and every marine I knew at the time dispised him. The damage he, Poindexter, and Secord caused Reagan and the US is shameful.
