Hip Hop is NOT music...it’s bitchin’ about cops, and whitey, to a drumbeat. It’s an “accepted” way of saying what would be frowned upon if spoken normally.
I play four instruments, over my life I’ve been in several bands, and hip hop - while being the most ‘promoted’ theme right now, will never replace rock and roll.
Too bad they don’t track how many of us still listen to oldies on a daily basis.
My brother told me “when you’ve heard one angry screaming black man you’ve heard them all”.
Not to mention you will hear the N-word in every song like a trademark.
To your point, there’s bands from 70’s and 80’s still touring today - doubt you’ll see that from these CRap artists.
Agreed.
Very few actual musicians in Hip Hop. If it weren’t for the studio sound engineers it wouldn’t exist. A lot of Rock ‘n Roll artists were barely proficient when they got started, but at least they hone their craft.
Hip hop has relatively little melody and harmony. You could say lt lacks music. And then there’s the uncouthness.
I remember my young son playing with a keyboard in radio shack. I asked him if he liked playing music. He said he liked the dog sounds it made.
It’s all about the audience.
