Apple and Nokia had been in a disagreement in the European Courts over FRAND rates for Nikes Standard Essential Patentss rates with Nokia wanting Apple to pay more than other cellular phone companies, which is a violation of the FRAND agreements. Apparently the two companies have come to an agreement satisfactory to both with Apple getting access to all Nokia patents in perpetuity for a one time license payment instead of ongoing royalties.

Apple and Nokia have settled the FRAND dispute with Apple paying Nikia a one-time up-front license fee of $2 billion for an apparently unlimited, non-expiring access to all of Nokia's patents. PING!
