The young women, all in their 20s, thought it would be easy to float down Muskegon River, in Michigan, on Tuesday but ended up getting lost along the river. They were forced to spend the next 20 hours huddled together in the cold, scared and yelling for help.
The women, who had never been tubing before, had been told by someone at the Maple Island Road Bridge that the river goes in a circle so they presumed they would come back to their car.
Muskegon Township Deputy Fire Chief Bob Grabinski said: Not knowing anything, they set off on their little adventure.
It was only when it started to get dark and their car was nowhere to be found that the women, who didnt have a phone on them, decided to get out and wait for help on the riverbank.
The Fire Chief added: They said they hugged a tree all night yelling for help.
Eventually, a fisherman floating the river heard their cries for help and called 911. Firefighters found the women about a quarter of a mile downriver and apart from a few scratches, they were fine, Grabinski said.
He added: In their words, theyre never going tubing again. My words are know the river or take someone with you who knows it and have a plan.
Maybe they didn’t want to get their phone wet, which I admit makes sense.
I think the person meant it goes in a curve, but in places like these the language is not very precise and all is lost in translation and decoding.
Grammar is racist...
Ha!
Next thing they’ll think an island would tip over if you built an airbase in one side. (There shiuld be a test to pass to vote, this proves it).
City folk venturing out into the country often make uninformed mistakes that can be life threatening. But they were game enough to try.
Too many times on the Lazy River at the local water park......
LOL...too many trips to the water park or Disney World with the endless loop “river.” This trio defines “dumb as a box of rocks.”
LOL!!!!
I totally agree...
Hmmm
Smart enough to know that wet phones dont work but not smart enough to know that rivers dont flow in circles.
Nope, I just dont buy it.
Big Mistake: I thought (Before I read the article) they’d be blondes.
= = = = = = = = = = =
I must have thought the same as when I read the line they had to huddle for warmth I was thinking along the lines of the old ‘women mud wrestling’ reasoning ‘something’ may fall out.
Of course when I saw the picture it completely erased my earlier ‘fantasy’ that I had conjured up.
Doubtful.
They're too busy blaming someone else for their predicament.
Probably blaming some white guy.
Well, some islands are round (sort of), so I guess you could say that the rivers kind of sort of circle around them.
Or maybe they figure the world is round, and they’ll come back around the other side....
Very, Very True. I was born & raised on a real Ranch in South Texas (many, many years ago)...
At times we'd have relatives visit From The Big City...
We always went into a "protection mode" when they arrived....
They could (and did) get themselves into trouble....
Country living is different than city living....
Lighten that load up with a little bit of optimism and faith.
Think some positive thoughts. Find something to laugh about (no, not me;-).
I know whereof I speak. I have been through lots of negative stuff.
There is a brighter place.
These girls might just be OK. Think a wee bit more positively...pray for them a bit.
If you'll pray for me...I'll pray for you. And we can both pray for these girls. And we'll be the better for it.
As an aside, I still have dark days too. But I believe I'll make it.
They were shown the river course chart drawn by M.C. Escher
I'm looking at their picture. They're public school teachers.
Hmmm
Smart enough to know that wet phones dont work but not smart enough to know that rivers dont flow in circles.

You’re right, they aren’t THAT smart.
See. I’m not racist. I figured they would be blond.
