FULL TITLE: Critically ill baby fights for her life in hospital after her mother told the doctors to stop treating her because 'she would rather try for another child'
At just eight months old, little Sun Menghan has undergone six operations and is now fighting for life.
The baby, from China, has congenital biliary atresia, a condition where the bile ducts become inflamed and blocked, which can cause the liver to fail.
Menghan parents abandoned the child when the doctors told them that medical treatment for the baby could be expensive; but her grandparents are doing whatever they could to save the girl.
Menghan's parents told the doctors to stop treating the girl in January, when the girl was three months old.
Before disappearing, her mother apparently told the doctors that she would rather try for another child than spend a lot of money treating Menghan without a guarantee that she would recover.
The girl was then sent to her grandparents to be looked after in the far-flung Xinjiang Province in western China.
Six months after Menghan was left in her cold hospital ward by her parents, the baby's grandfather, Sun Sitao, spoke to MailOnline about the child's battle for life.
Mr Sun, a farmer, said Menghan was born last November.
His family originally come from Anhui Province, eastern China, and the elderly couple moved to Xinjiang for work.

She is a girl. Male children are much preferred in China because male children are the parents’ retirement plan. Male children are expected to care for their parents in old age.
Female children require a dowry from the parents to get them married.
The one child policy means that a sickly girl is not only not a boy but also means there will be no male child.
So this girl is a financial drain and there can be no male heir.
Its England. I’m shocked the bureaucrats even bothered to try and treat the baby and just didnt pronounce it unfit for medical treatment from the start. Killing imperfect babies is what they do best now.
The article says the parents have been caring for their son and would like to try for another child instead of keeping her. China has rescinded their ‘one child’ policy. But again, I thought that nobody paid for healthcare in Communist countries.....that’s why the Left LOVES Communist health care.

When I saw that a baby was being allowed to die, I just assumed it was in England.
Yes, except for two grandparents who won't give up. I pray she recovers quickly.
