Archaeologists funded by Christian organizations are taking a shovel again to Tel Shiloh, an archaeological site that was a major center of worship for ancient Israelites.
Theyre looking for the ark of the covenant, the holy chest containing the two stone tablets on which Moses is said to have written the Ten Commandments, which was stationed at the ancient city of Shiloh for 400 years.

Oak Island? Two thousand years ago then it was moved to Atlantis and taken away to the Pegasus Galaxy.
It was hidden by King Josiah before the Babylonian conquest. It is hidden on the Temple Mount itself. There are only two explanations offered from ancient times; the King Josiah one and the Babylonian capture one.
Josiah was king after the fall of the northern kingdom and after several wicked kings, and there was little prospect that righteous rule would follow him, so he would have reason to hide the Ark and other items.
Scripture says if you touch it, you instantly die.
"Don't look, Marion!"
Third, the Romans took it and destroyed it.
Most likely its long gone
Another theory is that of English archaeologist and adventurer Tudor Parfitt. He traced “the Ark” to a small museum in Africa. You’ll never gues what “the ark” turned out to be! Check out his 2000 book “Journey to the Vanished City.” I think there was also a one-hour special on PBS or TLC some years back.
Top. Men.
I suspect God has it hiding in plain sight somewhere.
Clickbait!!!
Just TELL us.
I’m not sure, but I would surmise that it wasn’t the box that killed those that touched it, but it was God that dwelled on the box that did the killing. (Sort of like Moses having to hide his eyes so he wouldn’t see God or he would die.)
If it is still around - it’s just a box now. (Okay - a REALLY cool box with hopefully some neat stuff still inside!)
ark probably not taken by Babylonian invader, at least it did not show up on the lists of the things they stole.....
According to one account, King Josiah hid the ark under the wood storehouse (On the Jewish Temple Mount). Another version of its whereabouts is that King Solomon foresaw a potential future need to hide the ark and set up a hiding place for it in a Dead Sea cave. There are reportedly tunnel(s) from under the JTM to the Dead Sea region a few miles to the east. The ‘under the Jewish Temple Mount” version is, I believe, the more widely accepted account as it traces back closer to the time of the JTemple. The Dead Sea cave account I can only trace back to Maidonides (over a thousand years later). Archeologlist Leen Ritmeyer believes its buried under the JTM, directly under where the ark stood (in the Holy of Holies room of the Temple). Ritmeyer says there’s a cut stone there that matches the ark’s dimensions. As for Ethiopia, it is possible they may have a copy of the Ark... as it is recorded that copies were made... and if King Solomon let them continue on their return to Ethiopia knowing they had an ark in their cargo...he must have known it was a copy ark (or he would never have let it go, this being just my opinion).
So..
1. Babylonian invaders stole it
2. buried under JTM woodshed
3. buried in a DeadSea cave
4. buried under Holy of Holies on JTM
5. Ethiopia
6. buried with Jimmy Hoffa in Detroit, Michigan?
“the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.”
Yeah... and after he broke them God made him re-carve them by hand.
“When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant law, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.”
Read a little further.
When Moses came down from Mount Sinai he saw the Israelites worshiping the golden calf and threw the tablets down and they shattered.
Moses then made a copy of the tablets that God had written and that is what was placed in the Ark of the Covenant.
So, if they found the Ark and it contained the tablets they would have been written by Moses.
I saw that. Interesting story but didn’t convince me. Someone else got the guardian to talk a couple of years back and he claimed the Ark was there.
Seen the show. Tudor Parfitt twisted the facts to fit what he found. His “discovery” bears no resemblance to the description of the Ark in scripture. Given the option, I’ll stick with what God said and not what Parfitt found.
It occurs to me that there must be fragments of the original tablets still on Mount Sinai. Looking for them might be an interesting archeological expedition.
Thought I saw the ark at a pawn shop in Vegas
Two excellent citations. Thank you.
Melted down, or rotted away.
