Yep. The funny part is, to American ears a "real" Cockney accent sounds just as outrageous as Dick's exaggerated version.
With Poppins you could already see the compass Disney took up.
“Oh, wait...just noticed that BBC America is re-running Top Gear...gotta be a good one there somewhere.”
Oh Pooh! I just assumed they were the new ones!!!!! Thank’s for the heads up. Best show ever. The one were they built their own ambulances was just hilarious! Loved those 3, especially Clarkson.
And when is he going to apologize for appropriating the word “dyke”? And, for the anti-LBGTQEIEIO idea promulgated by his ancestors that it’s o.k. for males to put their finger in a dyke?
Nice word to say as they hold a needle poised. Ready for your injection? You can relax now.
He might be a lefty, but he is also a marvelous actor - and a very, very nice man. Very kind and generous person.
I had a friend in the military who grew up in Wales.
His accent was even thicker for all that it was natural.
I don’t know, madonna was affecting a pretty crappy accent there for a while.
Blimey!

I even give the accents names. “Dolly Parton Twang” “Rosamund Carter midland Georgia” “Rhett Butler Tahd-wahtta (tidewater)”
Thanks for the heads up. I’m downloading the first episode now :-)
I just have to ask, did anyone here find DVD sexy? Or is something wrong with me?
Good one, thanks! (Stole it for later...)
“Apropos of absolutely nothing...however...just a little trivia which springs to mind:
Did you know that “Chitty-Chitty Bang-Bang was written by Ian Fleming...he of Bond, James Bond fame?
Really slow night...raining...nothing on TV (that I would watch), Nook on the charger...bored, family at church, etc.
Ever have one of them nights?
Oh, wait...just noticed that BBC America is re-running Top Gear...gotta be a good one there somewhere. “
There are other connections.
The screenplay, which had a completely different story line from the book, was written by Roald Dahl. Roald Dahl also wrote the screenplay for “You Only Live Twice”.
Gert Frobe, the pompous Emperor in the movie, was Goldfinger.
The production company was Albert Broccoli’s just like the JB movies.
In both the book and the movie CCBB’s license place was “Gen 11”, which spells “Genii”, indicating it had magic powers
The license plate on Truly Scrumptious’s car, which you can see for just a brief moment, is CUB 1 [Cubi - Cubby] which was Albert Brocolli’s nickname.
I have, lots of times. Guess you have to listen for it. Its been a running joke about that movie for as long as I can remember.
Every bit as bad as Michael Caine’s Texas accent in Secondhand Lions.
Julie Andrews
damn, but she was beautiful...
