The other day, I was watching a program about the Church of Scientology. The program was not particularly flattering to Scientology. In fact, the documentary was downright disparaging. The conclusion of the documentary, although the producers did not come out and actually say it, was that Scientology was nothing more than a flashy, well-funded cult. That got me thinking about religion in general. You see, all of the worlds major religions have one thing in common. That commonality is the fact that there is a greater being outside of yourself and humanity. Some call that factor God, The Great Spirit, Gaia etc.
Cults have one thing in common. Their commonality is that the leader, or leaders of the order, believe themselves to be the great being that has come to live in human form. Indeed, they often call themselves God. For the most part, religions have an uplifting message. Even if you dont agree with that message, it is still there. Cults would have you believe that there is nothing positive to look forward to outside of the cult leader.
This is where politics comes in. You see, Liberalism is nothing more than a cult. It is probably not the worlds largest cult, but it is a cult nonetheless. Liberalism doesnt believe in a greater being outside of itself. Often Liberals are atheists or agnostic, and thus, they only believe in themselves and those who lead the cult. Liberals believe that there is no hope outside of the cult, or government that the cult has to be grown to ever bigger levels in order to achieve the utopia that is, in reality, impossible to achieve.

It’s an interesting theory, Yaelle. Makes sense. I usually equate the Left with the Liberal.
But I think your distinction is correct, there’s a lot of mindless follow the crowd among Liberals.
So by your definition, sounds like Hillary voters are liberal and Berniebots are Leftists.
I love you tag line, by the way,
Thanks!
Dennis Prager speaks a lot about the difference between liberals and actual leftists. People who already deeply believed in Bernie’s platform are leftists, but a lot of libs signed on to him too, in a big gullible group.
Yes it is.
Never a good idea.
Herein I suggest reasons why American/European Liberalism and Islamic Extremism unite against Conservatives:
1. Both believe, as enemies of liberty, in one-world totalitarian government whether the Caliphate of one or the UN Globalism of the other.
2. Both humiliate women whether by the genital mutilation, Sharia Law, etc. of the one or the Abortion/Feminism of the other.
3. Both are deadly killers, whether by the Abortion/Crime/Suicide/Euthanasia of the one or by the honor-killing/terrorism/suicide-bombing of the other.
Conservatives and especially evangelical conservatives are not simply hated, but are a formidable obstacle which must be removed by any means necessary.
Excellent points.
