I've always wondered about the origins and meanings (if any) behind others Freeper handles. Its a quiet Sunday morning, so I thought it would be an interesting topic to start the day.
What's the story behind your handle?
I kind of thought maybe you were a pilot.
Yael is my Hebrew name. I added the other l and e because pretty. Lol.
600 tons of alfalfa will do that!!
Brilliant idea. And the stories are wondrous! I knew FR was the best place in the world!
Mairdie was the way my 2 1/2 year old niece pronounced Mary. She lived with me on and off over the years and every time I see my name like that, I send her my love.
I grew up in a rabidly liberal family, conditioned to pull the lever for any name that had a “(D)” after it. (Except that I would never vote for incumbents, I figured they were corrupt.)
I became wiser over the period of several years, because I am a logical person, and I came to realize that the left is neither logical nor cares about truth.
I had never registered with a political party until Bill Clinton came along. He was the straw that broke the camel’s back, to use a cliché here. I registered Republican then and never looked back.
That’s the “exDem” part. The “Mom” part is obvious.
My first two FreeP “Handles” I got banned through and I couldn’t remember them so I created thon one that I use now(US Navy Vet) and BEGGED Mr Robinson and the Mods to be unbanned an WALLA here I am.
Mine is my stage name from band days
Oh man, that is a very funny story. I’ll bet you gave the bride a fright for a hot minute .. LOL
An action adventure game character I reminded my geeky friends of over years ago. One of them could not pronounce the name so I use the mispronunciation . It actually means valiant in Russian.
I was lurking for the longest time, then one day I simply HAD to respond to something. In my haste I put down my initials and house number. Thus, bk1000. Later intended to ask real nice if I could change it, but couldn’t think of anything all that clever then either.
Originally signed up as NCLady but forgot my password and was either too impatient or too ignorant to figure out how to get it sent to me. So I signed up using the state I love and my street. Apparently too boring to think of something better. I love reading how others got their screen names.
ping for later
Mine is the lead character from the novel: Martin Chuzzlewit by Charles Dickens.
Interesting origin of your handle. Thanks for the translation.
No story per se - joined in the days directly after 911 and hadn’t thought about trying for a handle that would say something about me (perhaps a fortuitous set of conditions because some have some self-aggrandizing handles that are belied by their posts). used a modified version of a family member’s name - if that person ever hits FR, the connection will make clear who I am.
Mine is kind of an oxymoron as a conservative that lived in Minneapolis. I know there are a few freepers still there that keep up the good fight. I fled to a red county in the far west metro in 2004. I never regretted that decision.
32 years ago my wife would say I was lurking and looming when I would sneak up on her.
I lurked here at FR for 10 years before I ever signed up and noticed how many other former lurkers added some form of it to their handle and it just seemed a natural fit.
