Having read the whole article, (I know, I know) it sounds like her father never bonded with Amy for whatever reason. I could speculate but it would only be speculation. His wife had died recently and maybe he honestly did not think Amy could handle a baby. Or maybe it was something else that prompted him to call the state in.

No matter what once the state has decided on it's story they are locked into it. Not even a sign from God Himself would change their mind.

If not washing your hands is a reason for taking a child away from it's parents then we are all in trouble.

Yes, her father just sounds like a very nasty guy. And I agree, they don’t seem so stupid from what they are quoted as saying, but who knows? A lot of pretty stupid people have kids though and a lot of very smart people are terrible parents. These people didn’t DO anything that was wrong. All the examples cited in story are just the purest of BS, the sunscreen thing for example, my own daughter and her hubby didn’t put ANY sunscreen on the kid the other day, each thought the other had done so and they are both college educated. There may or may not be issues with them, but between this and Charlie Gard it’s quite frightening.
