This is the reason Congress kept themselves EXEMPT,
to get Kennedy-level health care ONLY for themselves
and THEIR families.
The rest of the USA will get palliative care,
if at all.
With a FQbentynal -Cocaine shot!
Notice McCain didn’t go on the VA waiting list.
With nothing but a steady round of pain killers and morphine to make the patient comfortable until he/she expires...
This will be how single-payer will work too.
My wife has stage 4 brain cancer and is scheduled for surgery in two hours to ease some of he symptoms caused by her cancer.
I have had to go toe-to-toe with her oncologist and nurses to give her the best care. In fact, yesterday I had to lay out one of the nurses because all she wanted to do is drug my wife up and make her go away. Fortunately I can document her neglect.
GUARANTEE - John McCain will not have to fight as hard as I do to keep her alive.

A couple of things:
First, an 80-year-old would have regular old Medicare — not “Obamacare.”
Second, I don’t know why the “Congress made itself exempt” story endures, but it’s actually the opposite. As a “poison pill,” Republicans inserted a rule in Obamacare that says that all of Congress has to buy their plans on the Obamacare exchange (unless covered by a spouse’s plan). Obviously, that wasn’t enough of a poison pill, and Obamacare passed. What should be upsetting people is that in the Senate version of the reform bill, they DID put in special Congress-only rules.
That’s not all together true. Some seniors are dual eligibles, Medicare and Medicaid. Be interesting to find out how those patients are treated.
Probably say at that age it would be too traumatic( and possibly true) for surgery so make sure your advance directive is filled out and your plot is paid for.
He makes too much to be on any VA list. Not eligible. Which is kinda absurd. I’m barely eligible due to income but it’s the only way I can afford my meds. I don’t seem to recall me putting any kind of caveat or constraints on Uncle Sam when I raised my right hand 50 years ago next month.
I feel bad when people I love or don't hate get sick. For McCain I feel nothing - everyday of my life that guy seems to have gotten up in the morning and work against my best interests and then act like some champion of the people. I suppose I should love my enemies in this situation, with him I find it very difficult - because he is the enemy and poses as a friend.
As for the cancer - I would imagine brain cancer is a catastrophic condition and those provisions would kick in
Between his government health care and Medicare, I don’t think 0bamacare is involved in this situation. JMO
Whoops - Medicaid = Medicare
I know, I meant a person with a similar situation.
Prayers for you and your wife, FRiend.
My wife has a type II brain tumor (astrocytoma) which has a high likelihood to turn into GBM. It has been a difficult 5 years since diagnosis but we know the future will be even moreso. Yesterday’s news regarding Sen McCain really hits home and is an opportunity to pray for one’s enemies.
So very sorry for your situation. May God make your wife’s path as easy as possible, may He give you the strength to walk this road with her.
Yes, of course. Some also qualify for Medicaid. But Medicaid is a state-run program which is also not “Obamacare.”
