He makes too much to be on any VA list. Not eligible. Which is kinda absurd. I’m barely eligible due to income but it’s the only way I can afford my meds. I don’t seem to recall me putting any kind of caveat or constraints on Uncle Sam when I raised my right hand 50 years ago next month.

when you raised your right hand 50 years ago, the gubment promised your dependents would also get free health care for life - as a reward for their sacrifice of being part of a nomadic family. That’s longgone with the wind, along with free health care for veterans not based on income. Which is pretty sad considering only about 1% of the population is military and their (now grown and old) dependents

If he is service connected VA will cover the medical problem. Just choose not to report assets.

You are mistaken. He is a combat vet and a former POW - both ways to get your ticket to VA care for life. Of course he wouldn’t because he can get better care outside the VA.
