Men typically don’t have the option to go into fields based on finding them personally rewarding, because men can’t count on a marital partner providing the money needed for the standard of living they want, which explains why women go into fields which they like but which pay less.
DING! DING! DING!
My very liberal sister graduated from college and moved in with her husband whom she married shortly after graduating. He had a good job and made enough to support them both. She had the added luxury of him having enough to help put her through TWO master's degrees over the next 5 or 6 years. He also paid all the bills while she got her own business up and running. And yet, in her twisted liberal brain, she believes that her success is entirely her own doing.
I WISH I could have found and married some woman making a whole lot of money, that would have paid the bills while I spent another 5-6 years in college, and while I got some sort of business going. But alas, most women who make a lot of money want nothing to do with a man who doesn't make at least as much as they do, much less pay to support him while he tools around getting master's degrees.
This is an excellent point.
