Actually, a "battery" indication on a server makes sense -if- your server is on a UPS and the UPS reports "AC IN" status to the server.
- The server and all VMs are on AC power... but then...
- The AC goes dead, and the UPS cuts in.
- The UP sends status to the server that the system is now on battery power.
- The VMs see the "I'm on battery power" indication, and can begin orderly shutdown, take evasive action, or whatever strategy is specified in their config.
