There are strange things done in the midnight sun
By the men who moil for gold;
The Arctic trails have their secret tales
That would make your blood run cold;
The Northern Lights have seen queer sights,
But the queerest they ever did see
Was that night on the marge of Lake Lebarge
I cremated Sam McGee.
Odd for the time of year but not unheard of.
My locale is just outside the line but I’ll be taking a look tonight and tomorrow. Forecasts are not exact. I’m not really expecting anything but it’s worth a shot.
When I lived in northern Wyoming as a kid, I once saw the aurora on a winter evening playing outside with other kids. It started out as a pink ribbon and I had an argument as to whether it was caused by the space shuttle that had launched that morning (I said no, the other kids insisted it was). It was pretty early evening, keep in mind that sundown in northern Wyoming is at 4:00 in mid-December, that’s why the east-facing ski area closes at 3:40.
