Anyone remember 21 1/2 percent interest ?
When Jimmah Cahtah got done with us, our dollars were worth about $.25...
This time of the year in ‘77 I had just graduated High School. I spent my Summer partying before getting ready to head off to college. Lots of it is fuzzy but I do remember going through a case of Haffenreffer Private Stock on one weekend.
Newlywed. <3
Was on USS Sterett CG-31, in 77. Spent part of the year in the Indian Ocean. Had port calls in Ujung Padang, Perth, Mombasa, Bandar Abbas, Port Louis, Maldives, Sattahip and Singapore. Good cruise.
I was probably watching tv...

Moved way out into the back country of Northern California to get away from all that crap shown in that YouTube video.
Best move I ever made.
I was stuck on a nuclear missile site that didn’t exist in TU.

Slapshot...one of my all time favorite movies!!!!
I watched Eraserhead, was so disturbed by it, I wasn’t sure what I had seen...re-watched it with my brother, and to this day, has never forgiven me.
6 years old and without a care in the world. Good times.
Hah, future FRiend.
I was a few valleys over, flogging an M113 around Cowhouse Creek.. At least we can say the Commies didn't overrun central Texas on our watch!
Gradgumated Hi Scrool
CKLW, the Motor Cityyyyyy
clack, clack, clack It’s time for CKLW 20/20 news.
I watched a documentary about the Big 8 and was amazed at how many major musical stars directly credited Rosalie Trombley and CKLW for their careers.
They also are responsible for making huge strides in bringing the races together. Historically, blacks only slistened to black stations and white to white stations. CKLW put Motown, Philadelphia Sound and R&B into regular rotation introducing their white audience to the tremendous and unprecedented black music of the time.
I still prefer 70’s R&B over all other music.
I remember listening to Super Max Kinkel one night drop the rumor, soon proven true that Elvis Presley had died.
C-1-5 Infantry, Schofield Barracks, HI.
Appalachian State. I almost met a girl.
Hah! Small world, eh? You guys never even knew...probably been on FR all this time...:)
Interest rates keeping me renting a trailer and spending my “free” time in lines at the gas station are my top memories. Other than that working shifts at the mine as usual. Actually a pretty blah year.
22 years old, first summer working for the Forest Service, on a Siskiyou NF fire crew. Good times.
