A majority of Republicans in a new survey think colleges and universities have a negative effect on the U.S.
The Pew Research Center poll finds 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents think colleges and universities hurt the country.
Just 36 percent of Republicans think they have a positive effect.
In contrast, a large majority of Democrats, 72 percent, say colleges and universities have a positive effect on the country.
Overall, slightly more than half of the public, 55 percent, thinks colleges and universities help the U.S., according to the survey.

Time to stop sending our kids to college.
Time to stop hiring college grads.
“Time to stop hiring college grads.”
Keep that in mind when you need surgery.
That reminds me of a politically correct episode of Grey's Anatomy. The politically correct doctor told the politically incorrect patient, that he would rather kill him on the operating table. I wonder how many politically correct doctors are out there?
My friend got so scared she left the ER and went home.
Their Intellectual Yet Idiot professors and graduates have been eroding the core values of our country for decades.
What the following article/oped is warning us about are the Intellectuals yet Idiots setting policy and laws based on bs.
Nassim Taleb Exposes The World’s “Intellectual-Yet-Idiot” Class!
What we have been seeing worldwide, from India to the UK to the US, is the rebellion against the inner circle of no-skin-in-the-game policymaking clerks and journalists-insiders, that class of paternalistic semi-intellectual experts with some Ivy league, Oxford-Cambridge, or similar label-driven education who are telling the rest of us 1) what to do, 2) what to eat, 3) how to speak, 4) how to think and 5) who to vote for.
But the problem is the one-eyed following the blind: these self-described members of the intelligenzia cant find a coconut in Coconut Island, meaning they arent intelligent enough to define intelligence and fall into circularities??, but their main skills is ability to pass exams written by people like them.
With psychology papers replicating less than 40%, dietary advice reversing after 30 years of fatphobia, macroeconomic analysis working worse than astrology, the appointment of Bernanke who was less than clueless of the risks, and pharmaceutical trials replicating at best only 1/3th of the time, people are perfectly entitled to rely on their own ancestral instinct and listen to their grandmothers (or Montaigne and such filtered classical knowledge) with a better track record than these policymaking goons.

I don’t think that is the answer.
The answer is to get students to think for themselves, and to fix the stranglehold leftists have on higher education.
Okay, what's your start date for that? We can send the kids ASAP.
The hiring can start 4-years after that.
Come on. Be for real. How about getting your kids to be able to think for themselves? Is that something you can be on board with?
Thank you for clearing that up.
Glad to help. Nothing personal, but you sounded like you really needed it.
Wise decicion. As I asked before, how many politically correct doctors are out there?
donna, you have been here for a while, and I respect that, but there was a lack of rationality in your posting last night, and when I attempted to keep it civil, I got more irrationality in your responses.
As someone who has read your posts over the years, it made me wonder if you had been drinking or something last night, I didn’t really understand it. I still don’t.
I will read that thank you Grandpa.
Thanks!
That article on the Intellectuals Yet Idiots explains who/what has been behind all the bad info from our universities and government at all levels in America and around the world.
Is there something wrong with you? Because there sure seems to be.
You come onto a thread for a serious discussion, and propose as a solution that all colleges be shut down and send nobody to college.
Then you get a hair across your butt because I POLITELY said “I don’t think that is the way to approach it” and you come back with more irrationality.
To say you are going to shave your rear end and light your hair on fire to fix the problem is just as rational as your initial post and your sarcastic reply.
Here is some advice, donna: If you don’t want people to think you do indeed have a drug or alcohol problem, don’t engage in discourse as if you do.
