Can this progressive ironworker (and his mustache) swipe Paul Ryan's seat?

A progressive, mustachioed Bernie Sanders supporter has shot to fame after announcing a challenge to Republican house speaker Paul Ryan.

Democrat Randy Bryce, who goes by @IronStache on Twitter, is an ironworker, union organiser and veteran who launched his bid for Wisconsin’s first congressional district on Monday.

Since then, his evocative campaign advert, which shows a denim- and boot-clad Bryce discussing healthcare with his mother and engaging in various forms of metalwork, has been watched more than 330,000 times, and the 52-year-old has attracted a level of internet acclaim rarely seen among political candidates.

“I knew that we would have a successful launch,” Bryce told the Guardian on Thursday. “But I honestly did not have any kind of idea it would blow up as big as it has.”

Says Bryce: “And I’m proud of helping build things in the last 20 years. And then I look at what Paul Ryan has done and he’s done nothing.”

I would hate to see a Bernie supporter elected BUT then again, Ryan is such a phony.

Probably not. He announced he is a progressive.

I know many conservatives, but no RINO’s who just might support him.

Most of what this guy says is just liberal soundbites and he says he is a Bernie follower.

But I am inclined to think that one congress seat wouldn't make much of a difference and as a freshman, he wouldn't be influential in any committees.

So I am inclined to support him as I see Paul Ryan being a bigger problem over the next three years.Am I wrong and need to be taken to the wood shed?

I’d love to see a MAGA republican or independent run against Ryan first of all.

It could almost be worth sacrificing this seat to get rid of Ryan.

"IronStache"? Please.

His mustache is nowhere near impressive enough to be his catch-phrase.

Hard to argue that.

Anything he “built” was three to four times the price and took longer than anything a non-union shop could build it. Union thug.

I know. He is so repugnant, deceitfully working for the other side. It would be worth it to vote for the Dem, just to knock off the arrogant snot.

No. Not going to happen. But the media will love him and stir up the biggest hullabaloo you’ve ever seen.

As much as I’d hate to see a Dem take a GOP seat, in Ryan’s case, does it really matter? Conservatives would be much better off without him. Ryan is an albatross around our neck.

That was an effective ad. Especially the part where he said to Ryan to trade jobs. He would go to DC and Ryan can come work steel.

Basically called Ryan a wuss, and he is.

If all we lose is one seat, I sure would like to avoid Speaker Ryan for 10 or 12 years. Its obvious the GOP loves him and wont vote him out of the chair. This might be the only way.

Yes he is and he’s good at it. He’s a Dem mole.

Which is why it wouldn’t be a loss to start with Ryan, cleaning out the Republican party and getting those traitors back into the Dems where they belong. OK, they actually belong “elsewhere”, but I can’t write that here, LOL.

Respectfully, my good FRiend, I do not agree.

A (cough, cough) Ryan in the Congress is better than an America-hating Dem/progressive/Marxist.
