Shortly after Trump won the nomination I put a Trump sticker on my car. A beat up old Camry pulled up behind me at a red light and the occupants -- 4 or 5 youngish looking guys, mostly if not all white, started screaming obscenities, "F Trump, F you, F you wingnut", etc. Whatever...Until they I realized they were following me. I started cruising randomly, highways and back roads, flicking on my blinker but skipping the turns, etc, and they shadowed my every move, pulling right up to my bumper at stop signs still yelling, all of which I was lucky enough to be able to go through quickly. I avoided red lights because I figured they'd take the opportunity at a long stop to get out and surround my car. I eventually put on a burst of speed on a county road, whipped down someone's driveway and watched the jackasses zoom by, then went the other way.
Reached my destination and scraped that sticker right off. I was carrying at the time so I'm really, really thankful that I was able to avoid a confrontation.

I remember back when GWB was elected and then reelected. The liberals hated him, there were protests, bumper sticker makers became zillionaires...but there wasn’t this palpable sense of menace.
There is now. I have made it a point to avoid political discussions deeper than a thimble these days. I don’t know if it’s because the left thought that when Obama won it was democrat rule forever like on that laughable James Carville book cover, but something has snapped in many of them. That shooter at the Republican baseball game is the prime example.

Call ahead to police HQ, then lead them there. When I was between jobs many years ago I scabbed for a grocery chain whose union thugs were on strike. When I locked up and left one night there was a car parked at the far end of the lot, and I thought I saw movement in it. Sure enough, it followed me, lights off. So I made a couple of random turns to confirm that it was indeed following, then led them to police headquarters, pulled in, go out and made a show of getting their plate number. This was before cell phones so the cops were not on notice. But no trouble thereafter.
