What the heck?
On Wednesday, Baltimore County Police released surveillance video from a bizarre shootout on June 7, 2017, between police and 35-year-old Blaine Robert Erb that began, of all places, on a city bus!
Police responded to the report of an armed robbery in progress. When arriving at the scene police learned the suspect fled onto the No 10 Maryland Transit Administration bus.
When an officer stopped the bus near Logan Village Shopping Center the suspect opened fire on police.
Police said four officers returned fire and Erb was killed. One officer and a bystander were wounded.
The suspect was found in possession of two .40-caliber handguns as well as spare magazines and ammunition. The suspect has a lengthy criminal history and is prohibited from possessing firearms. Wait, a criminal didnt follow gun laws?! Shocker.
Check out this crazy video:

You’re blowing hot air. I suppose it’s true that they don’t expect to use their guns. How many ever get in a firefight like that? Anyway, they fought and fired and prevailed, even if inelegantly.
Was that white van just parked on the street? Was the cop with the camera shooting through the van at the perp? Did he get him?
In the old days of Baltimore, after the 1968 riots, the City police bought some very special and very deadly shotguns that were claimed to be accurate up to 1,000 feet.
They sounded like the Jet Nitro Express ones, which could shoot pumpkin balls instead of small shot or slugs.
At least they killed the bastard. In LA they would have given him an award and in NYC, he would have had a parade named in his honor.
I had always thought that cops kept their shotguns loaded with shotshell, slug, shotshell, slug, etc. That doesn't seem to be the case in Baltimore as it was all shot and no slug in the shotgun. Does she have a rifled barrel? When you watch the shot hit from inside the bus, it looks like an overly large spread for the relatively close range, imo.
Additionally, since the crazy shootout with the 2 bank robbers in LA in the 90's, most law enforcement now carry a rifle as well as a shotgun in the trunk. This doesn't seem to be the case in Baltimore: I didn't see a rifle in the trunk.
Ok, so do you have anchor tied to your butt? Get in the academy and show ‘em how it’s done.
And BTW, there is NO private sector folks who respond to armed gunman on public transportation. Just the police.
Maryland “Freak State” PING!
Just for clarification, there is no hard and fast rules about the car-carry shotgun loads. Each agency either has their own policies or no policy at all as far as what type and loading of shotgun shells.
Rifle carry is not as prolific as some think. A skilled officer who is already a pistol instructor has to be tested to enter the rifle instructor course. Then his or her certification is only good for two years and he/she must recertify any officers on their department each year.
Most rifles are carried upfront with the driver. A long-arm in the trunk is time consuming to get and it takes your eyes off the threat.
It costs a lot of money to field rifles, training and the attendant ammunition.
Shotguns are really not good outdoor toys for law enforcement. Low capacity magazines and a tendency to spray projectiles randomly means less firepower for the officer and greater risk for the public. Notice, the officer never even attempted to reload her 870 and transitioned to her handgun quickly. This put the bad guy on a level playing field. A reliable patrol rifle might have made for a shorter fight. Fortunately she had lots of backup and the bad guy had a cr@ppy extended mag that failed him.
As far as cost of rifles and training, I'm thinking that I would prefer to have the police as competent, armed and trained as possible. If this gets too expensive, then I think fewer cops would be preferable to having more but less competent officers.
While you may be right that it would be preferable to have the long arm up front. That wasn't the case here.
At any rate, other commenters spoke of this lady firing wildly with her shotgun. I don't see that at all. The video from inside the bus shows that she had very good shot placement.
If you are correct, I feel sorry for Baltimore cops. No one should be expected to put their life on the line with a 9mm as their most deadly weapon.
Most likely only supervisor is allowed to carry a shotgun.
Then it was trunk mounted not to scare the good citzens.
Only 4 rounds should have had a stock sleeve with another 5 at least. Or a tactical grab bag to be taken with the shot gun. No sling to secure it to your person is asking for it to be stolen.
Patrol rifles should be standard issue in all cruisers.
Don’t know what this guy was thinking! He was specifically told not to process firearms!! Rule breaker. Gun laws work if we all cooperate.-sarc
His beard is red. Muzzloid-Irish?
By now anyone who becomes a Baltimore cop would not likely be accepted in any other police department other than perhaps Berkely or San Jose, Calif. Anyone who has even 10% of what it takes to be a cop would never consider Baltimore. Hence, it takes them many, many shots to land one shot on target.
Yes, we could respond better than those Cops. Their whole demeanor was not good. The way they were shooting appeared to be very dangerous, etc.
Bottom line: affirmative action cops.
Why did you shoot the Perp 25 times?
We ran out of Ammunition...
I watched it. It seemed a little fake-ish at parts.
What did you think?
And where does a guy employed handing out pizza flyers get they money for that kind of firepower?
North Hollywood shootout 28FEB97. watch the movie 44 MINUTES. As crazy as the 1986 FBI Miami shootout was, it pales compared with this one.
The Muslim info has NOT been on the news/radio. Silent on that little info. He was described as a “white male”.. that’s all.
