I’m sorry if my comment offends you. It is not meant to offend. Reality can never offend, except those blind to that reality. The current situation is simply all too often an all too real reality.

Black leaders have gone from Dr. King’s incredibly needed campaign to remove racial barriers, to the current situation wherein they are calling for what is effectively the re-segregation of schools and dormitories, privileges given to one group over another based on race, the right of criminals to expect members of a your race to acquit another member of that race in a criminal trial because of their race, increasing illiteracy rates, 70+% illegitimacy rates, drug dealing, theft and burglary accepted as professions, and so much more.

That is a tragedy for all of us, especially Black Americans.... and it is reality.

Excellent. So no more cutesy “Amish” then.

Next time you post an article for the purpose of ridiculing blacks you’ll come right out and say blacks. Not Amish.

Your candor is be appreciated.

Hear, hear. No one knows better than I do, that you speak the truth.

You make some good points in post 35, Strac6. It reminds me of what George W. Bush called “the soft bigotry of low expectations.” It’s an outrage; a complete disservice to the black community...going back generations now. The liberals have the majority of the black community right where they want them.

I hear what BenLurkin is saying, though. I cringe sometimes when I read posts on FR. Not so much the Amish ones (but I’m not black), but others. I cringe because I know there are black FReepers and I hate the thought of their coming across these posts. I don’t know how many black FReepers we have, but I’ve been aware of several over the years. I do remember one FReeper basically opusing out a while back because he felt it was too toxic an environment for him, racially speaking. I’m not sure he was even black; he’d just had enough of the Amish-type comments.

It’s tough: we want to be able to speak freely, but at the same time we don’t want to alienate our minority FRiends. I think it’s just a matter of remembering that there are, indeed, black FReepers. No one would deliberately say something offensive, I don’t think; and I seriously doubt anyone thinks of black FReepers in the same category as the black people referred to as Amish, though they may feel like they’re being lumped in with them on some threads. I get that. I have to pipe up myself sometimes in threads where public school educators are being slammed. “Hey, we’re not all left wing lunatics! You’ve got some FReepers on the inside; don’t lump us in with the nuts,” etc.

I’m sure some of our threads would look different if our pictures and occupations were posted along with our handles; we’d know better to whom we were posting. But holy smokes, I would have been fired a decade ago! It’s why I’m not on Facebook, lol. The anonymity of FR definitely has its pros and cons, as this thread proves.
