Hahah!!!! How old were you when you got it???
My FIRST car, bought with my own money at 19 yrs old, was a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 drop top. NOTHING worked on it, except the drive train. Complete raped ape on the road. Damn thing was scary fast...
Engine fire took her out... sigh...
The 75 Bonneville was a few years later, but what a sweet old piece of Detroit Muscle. Big old 400 cu in under the hood. Power everything and a YUUUUGE backseat :^)
One of my best friends in elementary school had a father who was a Pontiac gearhead. He drove a teal colored ("Fontaine Blue", IIRC) '65 GTO and the "grocery getter" that his wife drove was a '67 Tempest in that great dark red, sort of a black cherry color. That was the first home garage that I'd seen with engine hoist and such - he did a lot of his own work and was always tinkering.
You mean like this one? It is like the one I own but I can't link a pic of mine to FR.
The Cad had seen its better days when I got it in a trade for a pair of downhill skis. That must have been 1983, I was 36. I was unemployed at the time and drove it until it dropped maybe a year later. Couldn’t afford to fix the brake system and sold it for $1. The BMV gave me a hard time about the price and suggested that it was worth $800. I just wanted the POS out of my garage. A ‘53 Chevy truck was i the wings and I needed the space.
