I was lucky enough to get a Cutlass with a custom installed spring reverb unit in the back window. Those still sound great.
The Cad had seen its better days when I got it in a trade for a pair of downhill skis. That must have been 1983, I was 36. I was unemployed at the time and drove it until it dropped maybe a year later. Couldn’t afford to fix the brake system and sold it for $1. The BMV gave me a hard time about the price and suggested that it was worth $800. I just wanted the POS out of my garage. A ‘53 Chevy truck was i the wings and I needed the space.
Mine was a ‘53 Buick Super 2dr. Hdtop. Big old gashog,but well built.

Chevy’s 265 and 283 were great little monsters...
You could pull a lot of horses out of them, and still they’d try to give you more.
Think about ALL the engine setups you could choose from then.
Chevy alone: 265, 283, 307, 327, 350, 396, 400, 454...

As I said earlier in the thread, I had an FM converter that I moved from car to car.
That Bonnie was sweet. 200 bucks, 46K miles, clean, and everything worked.

Takes you down to the Kelly Drive (East River Drive) from the Roosevelt Expressway, under the twin bridges. Instead of going to the left, onto the bridges, you bear right and it goes down under them, across Ridge avenue.

Yeah, with some few exceptions, they all pretty much suck.
Gas mileage is good, but they all look like bland bugs.
I want chrome. I want hide away headlights, hood scoops, whip antennas with a squirrel tail, baby Moons or Crager SS, or American Racing rims, 60s on the rear and 70s up front, air shocks, side pipes, and a nasty V8 roar coming from under the hood. Chirping the tires when you catch third... With Foghat’s “Fool For The City” blasting out of Jenson speakers and the top pulled down on a hot summer night.

Had a 1972 Plymouth Fury four door for a little while, around 1982 or ‘83. Sweet ride. Remember driving it to the Jersey Shore, Atlantic City Expressway. Blowing down the highway at 95mph, didn’t even realize it... not a bump felt.

I remember those... Datsun was just making inroads into the American car scene. They had the 240, 260 and 280Z sports cars. I think they became Nissan, actually...or were bought by Nissan.

That was a cool car. Big, Oldsmobile-comfortable, and front wheel drive. Neat body styles on those. I also like the Buick Rivieras. The ‘71’s had that whale tail where the roofline ran down to a point on the ass end. Cool, cool car.
I think the last true Muscle Car was the 85-87 Buick Grand National and T-Type. Truly monstrous on the road. Factory-made beast.
But they were unaffordable to me at the time, so I never got to buy one.
Drum Brakes got interesting REAL fast...

I had an Olive Green ‘73 Newport.
Two door or four door?
The two door version was stylish. The cops liked the four door.
Still had big blocks in them in ‘78, but with all the emission control crap dragging them down.
