Serious question: what happened to Joe?
Was it just the Mika Effect, or has living in Manhattan/Connecticut for many years, and working at MSNBC, made him more interested in being liked in his circle than in standing up for his principles?

Well, did he really ever have any principles to begin with? Or was he just reflecting what he thought his constituents in the Florida Panhandle wanted in a congressman?
I suspect it was the money more than anything. Once he got used to making Big Money (relative to what a congressman makes), he did whatever necessary to keep the gravy flowing.
In other words, his price was met.
Maybe Joe Scarborough’s competing with his brother for ‘Mommy’s love’... His brother’s a big Trump supporter.
He was always a creep and a climber.
I think its a combination of both.

Mika probably used all her skills to turn RINO Joe into RAT Joe.

...and was reasonably sure this book along with Morning Joe would propel him into the nomination for president in 2016 as the thinking man's Republican (social lib).
He never recovered from the failure of that book to sell, thus the foundation of his run never materialized. When Trump got the nomination it proved the final straw since Joe knew that HE was much more qualified than this crass real estate bully from NYC.
Total speculation, but I think I'm right.
