Star Trek has remained a ship somewhat adrift, especially since the prequel series Star Trek: Enterprise was canceled before its fifth season. When J.J. Abrams brought his kinetic, alternative timeline to life in 2009, the long-running saga received a shot in the arm. Since then, the franchise, now split between Paramount (film) and CBS (small screen), continues to seek out for the right vehicle to truly set the stars ablaze in the 21st century.
Star Trek Into Darkness and Beyond were both exciting and generally well-received entries but fell victim to diminishing returns at the box office when Beyonds meager haul seemed to call into question the fiscal viability of a fourth entry in the Kelvin timeline. Nevertheless, the saga remains wildly popular, with CBS unveiling its first streaming endeavor, Star Trek: Discovery, at the end of September. Longtime franchise creative Nicholas Meyer (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan), whos involved with the latest show as a writer and producer, recently revealed a new project. Although he hasnt disclosed the true nature of his undertaking, he did suggest that fans can assume its a feature film.
At this point, production on a fourth feature remains uncertain, at least according to Zachary Quinto (alternative Spock). Meyer could be exploring new avenues for the next Kelvin feature, but he may also be drafting a cinematic concept for the Prime timeline. Either way, is Star Trek ready to return to its classic continuity?

“Oh look, it’s time to build another ‘death star’”.
“the new cbs star trek has a chinese woman captain, a black female first officer who is going to become captain, theres an openly gay crew member but if you ask me, they could use a few more blacks.”
What? No muslims?
The good news is there will be white men. Though they will all wear red shirts and play the role of ensign Ricky
Another string of failures like the past?
LOL! Or Hillary as the Great Salt Vampire!
Come to think of it, Mooch could pull that one off, too...
I will watch it. Thank you.

Any new Star Trek ought to have the Federation banning white men after it is discovered the Borg (whatever they are, haven’t seen the shows and I gather the Borg are Boogeymen) are actually just white male capitalists trying to ruin social Nirvana just as they did to Mother Gaia in the 1900s.
In one episode, they could have every reference to Capt James T Kirk removed from Starfleet Academy and the text books, followed by a “Straight Male Expulsion Day”. As part of the ST Canon rewrite, they could have Kirk being neutered at age 40 and living out the rest of his life on a penal colony for multiple crimes against womanhood.
Sorry. Forgot. Can’t have crimes against womanhood because that would suggest binary sexuality. Maybe just crimes of...of...well, of being a white male who liked women. Including green ones. More than he liked Sulu.
I always like the original series panty flashes that uhura would let fly from time to time, she was built, what a woman!!!
They were going to make one but then Alan Rickman died.
Maybe they can find a replacement...heck Tim Allen may have some time on his hands.
It never strayed from the original timeline according to this:
