"Muh principles." (Ben Shapiro goes off the cliff)
Townhall ^ | June 21, 2017 | Ben Shapiro

Posted on 06/21/2017 4:16:26 AM PDT by rightwingintelligentsia

It's a phrase we hear over and over on Twitter whenever someone criticizes morally troubling anti-leftist tactics used by members of the right. They say: "What are you, some sort of coward? What, are you worried about muh principles?" The phrase is meant to deride the supposed moral preening of those who criticize -- they must think themselves high and mighty, whining about virtue where some good hard-nosed old-fashioned get-in-the-dirt-and-fight-'em tactics would do. Those worries about right and wrong just hamstring the right. "Muh principles" are a liability. Why can't those weaklings just get over their supposed moral purity and fight in the trenches?

--snip--

But, as it turns out, many of those who mock "muh principles" have no actual principles other than empty tribal victory. Never was that clearer than this week when several of the self-appointed members of the Trump-ardent defense squad went full social justice warrior, invading a Shakespeare in the Park performance of "Julius Caesar" that depicts President Trump as Caesar. Screaming "Liberal hate kills!" they stormed the stage, called audience members Joseph Goebbels and held up the production. Those who objected to this obtuse behavior were simply being hamstrung by "muh principles," they then proclaimed.

He goes on to actually make a serious equivalence between the Obama Rodeo Clown and the play depicting the gory assassination of a Trump-like figure.

Fortunately, he's getting hammered in the Comments section.

The rodeo clown wore masks of all presidents since he started his annual routine years before... he didn’t know Obama was “special.”

Lee Stranahan should have a field day with this one.

I kept hearing from people how good Shapiro is so I started following him on twitter. He seems like a total lightweight.

Just yesterday as while listening to the morning answer he got fired from. I was thinking man it’s good that phoney Shapiro got chased away. Ben the movement doesn’t want or need you. You are an annoying ranting lying sanctimonious gas bag.

I still read Ben Shapiro. I get what he is saying in a lot of what he writes, but its also true that his “adhere to your principles at all costs” thinking is how the GOP and conservatives keep getting their asses handed to them in elections and the cultural war. Like Henry Clay said, Ben would rather be right than have a GOP president.

Shapiro is pathetically weak intellectually.

He thinks that his ‘weighty’ pronouncements are influential, they are not and neither should he be.

Just reverse the roles; make it an Obama-like character being murdered. Would leftist SJWs have done any less?

Mever got why anyone who is constantly wrong is thought to be “smart”. Whether you believe in God or evolution, neither supports the notion that being consistently wrong = intelligence.

Ben,

The "principle" is that you have to fight fire with fire, or the other side will think you're weak and walk all over you.

It's like the football team that only passes. Eventually, the other team figures out that you have no running game, so they overwhelm the quarterback with blitzes knowing that they don't have to protect the short yardage.

If the Right never uses civil disobedience against the Left because it violates some "principled sensibility," then the Left will just ramp up their disruptions of the Right without fear of retaliation.

Stop being the 98-pound weakling who keeps getting sand kicked in his face, and start kicking some sand back!

Nope, they are pointing out that you are a whinny bed wetting liberal who thinks that attempted assassination attempts should be met with a "tisk tisk" before complaining to Jeeves that the tea is cold.

What part of "They are actually shooting at us" is hard for Ben to grasp?

So far the most we have done in retaliation is to say that they should not say that graphically showing our murders is "art". They are actually SHOOTING at us.

Real murder is being attempted.

Apparently that is fully in line with your "principles" as long as it is against us. Objecting to it is what is against your principles.

And you wonder why we reject you.

Dumber then advertised.

When you at war, propagandizing for the enemy is treason.

Ben, you a habitual traitor constantly propagandizing for the enemy.

Trying to create a false moral equivalency between the left’s habitual poltical thuggery and the right is intellectually indefensible infantile behavior on your part.

Grow a spin Ben, STAND up for what is right ONCE in your pathetic failure of a life.

What I learned long ago, and what the nation observed during the Trump campaign, the so-called conservative nevertrump principles weren’t principles at all, but craven allegiance to globalism and the Chamber of Commerce and corporate cronyism. It was their job to fool us for decades when what they were really working for was a vision that didn’t include us. It included third world workers here, goods made in Asia and enclaves of elites living richly off the profits. Shapiro and Krystol and their ilk wanted Hillary to win. That says what side they are on, no matter what they write. I wouldn’t read a single word written by any of them, any more than I would read Goebbels. Whatever they claim as their conservative opinion, it is a lie.
