Jerry Lynn, the homeowner, told a local news station that the clocks presence in the wall is his fault, but that he never dreamed he would still be dealing with the issue well over a decade later. Lynn says he was using the clock, tied to a string and dangling inside the wall, to help him locate a spot in the wall where he needed to drill to run some wire.
He set the alarm for ten minutes, then sent the clock down into the gap between the walls, hoping that listening for the chime would allow him to pinpoint the prime drilling location. Unfortunately, the clock wasnt properly secured to the string, and when he heard the thunk of the battery-operated gadget breaking free from its tether, he knew it was bad, but didnt think it would be an issue for long.
That was in 2004, and it is still going off every day, Lynn told the KDKA.

Burgh thing ping
It’s time to cut through the drywall.
He should sell this story to the clock manufacturer.
A Battery operated clock is still working ten years later? I’d love to know who manufactured that battery.
Call me skeptical...
Be kind. This is as clever as any person from Pittsburgh is likely to be.
That drywall, not plaster.
Cut a square in the drywall, grab the clock, replace square that was cut out, tape and float.
That’s a 30 min job.
That’s what I thought.
A little patch and paint would easily take care of the hole.
Then see what kind of batteries can last this long.
Let them do an ad in your house.
Yeah, or they need to quit worrying about the string coming lose and just pull it up by the electric cord. lol

That ain’t nuttin, honey, I’ve got a stud finder that whistles Dixie every day at 5pm
The easiest thing to do would be to get a rope and tie a 5 or 10 min pound weight on the rope, drop the weight in the wall until you smash the clock.
Dumb people in that house.
Set off an EMP next to the wall. That should solve the problem.
