A Florida fisherman lost $2.8 million in prize money after he was disqualified from a fishing tournament in Maryland for failing a polygraph test. A federal judge ruled Wednesday that Phillip Heasley, of Naples, the winner of the 2016 White Marlin Open tournament in Ocean City, Maryland that took place in August 2016, would be disqualified from the tournament, and 13 other contestants who won other competitions would split the prize money, the Baltimore Sun reported.

He’s obviously gillty
Having taken three in my lifetime (employment requirement), they could easily have swayed the results depending on how was hired to administer the polygraph.
This guy’s career is fin-ished.
The boat he caught it from probably cost that much.
I am shocked by that.
He should of lawyered up earlier.
For such an honest man to fail the polygraph was clearly a fluke.
Unless it was a whale of a story.
they polygraphed the boat- fish can’t talk silly... oh wait-
lol
They’re both being called as character witnesses. :)
And they’ll STILL be more truthful than democrats.
Wonder if he is feeling any remoras.
Poly’s are not at all accurate.
“Scientific evidence relevant to the accuracy of polygraph tests for employee or preemployment screening is extremely limited: https://www.nap.edu/read/10420/chapter/2#3
The US government does not have much faith in the poly: http://www.apa.org/research/action/polygraph.aspx
https://www.nap.edu/read/10420/chapter/1
Every poly examiner I met admits the poly is NOT 100% accurate, but every poly examiner I met claims THEY are 100% accurate.
I wouldn’t, knowing how inaccurate the poly is.
Voo-Doo.
I’ve taken a lot of poly’s from lifestyle poly to counter-espionage. . .some I passes, some I didn’t, and nothing changed. All we did was keep taking the exam over and over until I “passed.”
I say we place this case on the scales of justice.
Turns out it is very easy to fool a polygraph.
I mastered it when I was applying for sensitive positions many years ago.
It involves clenching and unclenching your butt hole at the right moment, and controlling breathing. It’s super easy.
Is there any fisherman who could pass a polygraph test?
Nice Catch!
I was in a fishing tournament this weekend (King fish, Dolphin, Wahoo), we caught a 14 lb King fish. We got to the weigh in just in time, they weighed placed us 3rd place, told us the scales are now closed and you won 3rd. We show up at the awards dinner, a sponsor name was somehow written in as 3rd even though we were there at scale closing and they told us we were 3rd.
We did catch a 6’ blue marlin earlier before the king fish.
Ping!!
Anything to add on this?
People here don’t seem to realize that polygraphs are par for the course at fishing tourneys....even fresh water bass tourneys. Contestants agree to this condition when they pay their entrance fees. Don’t want to take one?.....Don’t enter the tourney.
