She’s one of the last surviving legends of Hollywood’s golden age.

Her beauty and enigmatic smile saw Olivia de Havilland play alongside the biggest names of the silver screen – Errol Flynn, Clark Gable and Montgomery Clift.

Off screen she was romanced by the likes of Jimmy Stewart, John Huston and Howard Hughes – and reportedly turned down the advances of John F Kennedy. She won two best actress Oscars in a career spanning six decades and 49 feature films – many of them considered to be classics.

It's funny that she had a lifelong sibling rivalry with her sister, but was able to be good friends with the very difficult Bette Davis. Congrats to her on her damehood.

Amazing... I can’t believe she is still alive!

WOW! I remember in 1981, I was 18 and really became a BIG FAN of the movie, GWTW. I wrote to Olivia and sent it AirMail to her in Paris. She wrote back with a photo, she was 64 then...

She is NOW 100?? Damn, just damn!

Olivia de Havilland and her sister Joan Fontaine were two of the most beautiful women of Hollywood’s “Golden Age.”

She has lived in Paris for many years. Traditionally, she read the Christmas story in the Christmas Eve service at the American Cathedral in Paris. I wonder if she still does?

Beyond GWTW, I especially liked her in The Heiress with Sir Ralph Richardson and Monty Clift. Hold Back the Dawn with Charles Boyer was a good one with her too from WWII.

Miss de Havilland is being given a knighthood by Queen Elizabeth, and (at almost 101) is the oldest recipient.

Of her movies I’ve seen, I like her best in “The Snake Pit.”
That movie had a great cast.

She is almost a perennial “Death Pool” selection. And she laughs at them every time!
