An American Airlines plane flew to its destination rather than make an emergency landing after a runaway beverage cart struck a passenger’s head during takeoff, leaving him with a severe brain injury, according to a negligence lawsuit on Thursday.
Charles and Helga Johnson, a married couple from Stanfordville, New York, are seeking at least $10 million in damages from American Airlines Group Inc in a complaint filed in the federal court in White Plains, New York.

According to Thursday’s complaint, an unmoored, fully stocked, 300-pound beverage cart struck Charles Johnson in the head after it flew down the aisle on Flight 1941 to Charlotte, North Carolina from Hartford, Connecticut on April 28, 2016.

Did he have his head stuck out in the aisle ?
I have spent some time at multiple TBI (traumatic brain injury) conferences over the last 10 years or so.
One ‘client’ (a man with a pronounced incapacitation) was talking to me when a speaker - a Sheriff - passed by. The Sheriff paused, said: ‘Hello Joe (not his real name). I see that they let you out...”
“Yes, they did,” was the reply from the TBI ‘client.’
Turns out that the TBI ‘client’ and his buddy were working on a drilling rig, had the night off, and drove 50+ miles to get tanked at a bar.
On the way back, the ‘client’ lost control of the vehicle. The passenger was killed and the driver is still recovering after more than a decade in prison.
Not all TBI’s are due to drinking or idiocy. This one was.

They are stored off to the side in the galleys.
How did it make it into the aisle? I have flown millions of miles. Only seen two carts / one coffee pot get loose on take off. *ALL* stayed IN the galley. It was noisy, messy, but that’s all.
Lastly, airlines live and die by weight. Hard to imagine a cart with ice and drinks weighs 300 pounds.
Just not buying this at face value.

AA flight 1941 is now DTW to CLT - roundtrip. Those change all the time. Airbus 319 (like a 737). Good sized plane.
If that plane was an A319, then the cart had to exit its bin in the galley ahead of First class, and manage to roll down the aisle after making a left turn.
Like I said; I don’t understand the physics.
Looks like the mods ruined our fun by fixing the title. Oh well...
