I had an adult friend who thought potato chips were dried tree leaves.
“friend who thought potato chips were dried tree leaves.’
Only the ones made in China.
We had a foreign exchange student from Brazil who thought hamburger was made in the grocery store. We had him help butcher a beef and he would not eat it. Thought we we making dog food. Took him to a dairy and he would no longer drink milk at our house either. Darned city kids everywhere.
BTW we milked Holsteins but the milk came out white.
“I had an adult friend who thought potato chips were dried tree leaves”.
That is one of those sentences one reads and never, ever forgets! Lol!
So, then was your friend surprised to find out different or did they not believe you?, or did you leave them still thinking that? ;)
The BBC aired a documentary years ago on April Fool’s Day about the speghetti harvest in Italy.
So... did your friend think the "potato" part was a red herring, or that potatoes grow on trees?
When I was very little, I remember thinking, as I looked up at the stars in the warm summer sky, that the sound of the crickets was the sound of the stars twinkling.
Funny.
There are still warm summer nights I go out in my backyard, see the stars and hear the crickets, I think how wonderful it would be to again be so unencumbered by knowledge and life that I could make such a connection as I tried to work out the world around me.
Sigh. Brown cows and chocolate milk would likely be one of those connections.
