Yeah it’s legit. A legit SCAM! No phone calls. If they really want to talk to you they want you in their office.

It’s a scam. The IRS never communicates via phone calls. They ALWAYS send stuff in the mail.

The IRS usually communicates by mail don’t they? Do NOT give anyone your SS number. Sure sounds fishy.

You really have to ask? It’s just as real as that Nigerian prince who needs your bank account number to transfer his millions to America.

If phone calls were required, the government would have to provide everyone a phone.
To: SteveH
The IRS has your mail address, SSN, marital status, etc.
The do not need a call from you to mail a check.
In real life, the mail a refund check to you.
By the way, if you have overpaid thousands, you need a CPA Tax Accountant.

Nonsense. Ask the IRS to tell you the last 4 of your ssn orneven your wife’s name or how many dependants you claimed, or how much you paid.
They won’t answer any of them.
To: SteveH
Sounds very fishy.
I’d visit my local IRS office about this.

its a scam
They will ask you for your bank information so they can “deposit a check” instead they will drain your account.
You can ignore them, or even better call the IRS and FBI and report them...
OR lead them on so you waste as mush of their time as possible to keep them from scamming others.

Either go down to the office or call them, from a landline, on their official number.
You might find yourself on the hook for thousands of dollars otherwise.

Total scam. They probably will want your bank info to “direct deposit” the money. Heh heh.
To: SteveH
I would call and give them all fake info, but act like you believe them.

If you received a letter from them and you have a refund you are waiting for, it is legitimate. This is a new system that turns around identity theft suspected returns quicker.austin Texas is the office for handling Identity theft.
