Few provisions within Obamacare have proved less popular than the individual mandate, which requires all Americans to secure insurance or pay a fine. Unfortunately, some Senate Republicans are proposing a replacement that's even worse.
As part of their bid to repeal Obamacare, Sens. Bill Cassidy, R-La., and Susan Collins, R-Maine, want to allow states to automatically enroll the uninsured in health plans.
At least Obamacare let people choose whether to buy health insurance or not. Sens. Cassidy and Collins are calling for an even heavier dose of government paternalism, one that would increase federal spending, line the pockets of insurers, and raise premiums.
The Cassidy-Collins plan would provide refundable tax credits that would, in theory, cover the entire premium for a catastrophic health plan chosen by the government, of course. States would take those credits and ship them directly to insurance companies in return for covering folks who hadn't secured coverage on their own.

You cant have a mandate on insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions without forcing people to be insured in the first place. In fact part of the reason Obama is imploding is the personal mandate in it is so weak so mainly the sick and old are paying in.
Since that first mandate is SO popular that even Trump promised to keep it, the results are entirely predictable.
Nothing gets done.
GOOD NEWS!
Congress is great at getting nothing passed!
You’re nuts. Republicans are going to get shalacked in he next election. Running on promises when you have complete control isn’t a winning strategy. They may be losing on purpose so they aren’t blamed by their constituents for Trump being impeached. Trump really needs to shut down the government for months!

Collins is looking for an excuse to vote no, she doesn't need to we already know is will say Nay, Please... Cassidy, I have no idea what their problem is.
What IBD isn't taking about.
My State Senator is a big proponent of Direct Primary Care ( DPC ). ( if you don't know what it is google it ). He posted on social media the other day he was headed to DC to me w/ Dr Price, and I think Seema Verma and this was in regards to a big DPC conference.
Does anyone get how big that is?
If I am not incorrect here, by not getting totally rid of Obamacare thereby giving Dr Price the same "Administrator Shall" authority that Sebilius had, perhaps DPC + HSA's are coming with universal ability to use the HSA's tax free dollars to enroll in a DPC is a game changer. So the big question is, can HHS Secretary Dr Price do this without Congress, my guess is yes.
I have no idea that all I typed above is a given, but if Dr Price can get rid of the "Qualified Plan" and allow HSA's+DPC which can equal savings of 20 to 30% ( low estimate, the high end number is much, much better ) How does this not negate all the verbal nonsense coming out of the Senate?
Team Trump is doing real work at the team level, every freaking department is going for best practices. It is Demming / Six Sigma being implemented in "The Swamp" whether they like it or not.
Good gosh, I am a nobody to these folks in fly over country and even I see it...
2. They're losing money because only older people and those in poor health are signing up.
3. Young/healthy people are going uninsured because the premiums are too high.
4. The premiums are too high because Obamacare burdens the insurance companies with all kinds of mandates that make insurance prohibitively expensive.
If the Trump administration offers to waive the most idiotic requirements of Obamacare, insurance companies will have an incentive to develop plans that are inexpensive enough to attract younger/healthier people to help balance their upside-down demographic pools.
Even early 2018 may be too late to save a lot of these Republicans. The impact of the new legislation isn’t likely to occur right away — especially if you’re looking at changes in the tax code that wouldn’t apply until the 2018 tax returns are filed in 2019.
Ok.
Obama created a nightmare destined to collapse in order to generate a single payer national healthcare system.
It will collapse in the next year or so.
Whoever is in power at the time will shoulder the blame, REGARDLESS of polls.
It is ESSENTIAL to repeal it, replace it with a free market alternative which allows people to buy healthcare cover across state lines, removes mandated coverages, provides protection for those people ruined by losing their coverage through Obamacare and FORCED into the exchanges, and provide the kind of Medicaid for indigent CITIZENS which existed before the Kenyan Katastrophy created this damn mess!
AKA: A death spiral.
The premiums are too high because Obamacare burdens the insurance companies with all kinds of mandates that make insurance prohibitively expensive.
Well, mostly because of the mandate that they insure terminally ill and AIDS patients.
The economy recivering solely due to Trump. They will ride that, so no 2018 not too late for taxes.
Maybe for Ocare, but that IS Icare & Dems still own it.
The one thing that I think about this muddled approach is the American citizens who were lied to and forced onto this destructive plan are still suffering. My family was a victim, but got off it. It almost ruined their health and finances.
Someone help me out here, and I am not looking to bash the Senate. Why is a law like this needed? The tenth amendment seems to already take care of this issue.
One reason I really didn't have a problem with RomneyCare as a legal entity--if Massachusetts didn't like it, they could dump it.
The way I understand the Constitution the states don't need permission to do a lot of stuff. Someone help me out here.
“VT tried single payer and CA is trying it now”
CA is not, still in the discussion stage of where do we get 400 billion to pay for it.
It isn't the enrollment that's the issue.
"The Cassidy-Collins plan would provide refundable tax credits that would, in theory, cover the entire premium for a catastrophic health plan."
Along with the restriction against imposing any annual or lifetime limits on claims.
People clamored for their government to "fix the problem," but there's no way to fix a system that is built on a foundation of delusion.
So here we are in June 2017. It's really that simple.
The GOP better get it’s act together or it will face the same result the Tories did.
Health Care is a maze on purpose, in order to lord it over I believe what is 1/6 of our economy.
Trump needs to lead in this, because the Establishment Marxists are, presently, running this show.
I’m with you. We are in need of a tutorial on where we’re going with Health Care and our marching orders. Every gang needs their leader to deliver the message, prior to our dying on the Hill up ahead.
I’m grateful you’re following it religiously.
One problem with your fix. The next President can justgo back to OC as written.
