What a boondoggle. This thing will cost you 50% more in parts and will have a miniscule software library. The new XCode development was just announced. It will take 2 years for it to get traction and that’s too late.

Here's what TechRepublic has to say (which is very true):
As impressive as the performance of iMac Pro looks, the price could make it impractical for many professionals and businesses. Having seen past iMacs overheat, professionals will also continue to be concerned about the cooling of the iMac Pro despite Apple's WWDC assurances. In the end, a high-powered Mac tower would have likely cost less, been more modular, and attracted a lot more enterprise buyers.

Look at the size of that Touch Bar, size does matter.

Turns out that Apple is basically playing catch-up with their iMac Pro against Microsoft's Surface Studio.

Meanwhile, the Surface Studio comes in a lot less expensively than the iMac Pro. And, the iMac Pro wont be out until December 2017 or early 2018, while the Surface Studio has been out for a few months now.
And, when it comes to the Surface Studio screen vs the iMac 5k, well, the Surface Studio has a touch screen and can be drawn directly into it, while the Apple screen is still living in the last decade except for the 5k resolution.
The Xeon processor in the iMac is meant as a wow factor feature, while it's not really needed for most graphic artists needs. The i7 in the Surface Studio, along with the GPUs it comes equipped with, is more than adequate.
Apple is now behind in the area that they're trying to catch up to MS with. Including a wow factor CPU can easily be done by any other manufacturer, and if that's what designers need and want, I'm pretty sure that MS can do it cheaper than Apple.

I think the iMac Pro may have another use: editing machines for ATSC 3.0-compliant 3840x2160 video. The spec of the iMac Pro certainly have the "oomph" to do this. And the since it has the latest Thunderbolt port, it could plug into a seriously high-end 30+ inch 4K resolution computer display for that type of work, too.
