Speaking of Germany. the founder of Gab, the free speech alternative to Twitter said they were signing up around a thousand Germans a day there. Its so many signing up Gab installed a German translation feature.
I have been waiting months to sign up. What gives???
It’s an interesting episode what is driving this movement of Germans to Gab.
Since the German gov’t can’t control the chatter on Facebook and Twitter...they’ve gone to identifying people and comments....as hate-speech. They give FB 24 hours to remove the comment or fine them 50-million Euro (per item). Naturally, this has worried FB and they act very quickly....deleting the comment and then terminating the account with the individual involved. Since there is an office in Germany for FB....they can physically touch them and ‘torment’ them as they like.
Well...in the case of Gab...no office and no physical way of touching them (at least not yet). I expect by the end of 2017....at least 10-percent of German FB users will have left FB....going over to Gab. The German government might be stupid enough to say they’ve successfully shut down comments and hate-speech (in their mind) but all they did is chase the public from one media device to another.
