Colin Kaepernick deserves NFL roster spot and Roger Goodell needs to make it happen
NY Daily News ^ | June 6, 2017 | Gary Myers

It’s time for Roger Goodell to call in a favor to one of his billionaire owner buddies or GM or coaching friends and get Colin Kaepernick signed.

As Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in the draft, was falling right off the board into free agent-ville in 2014, there were rumors that Goodell called his good friend Jeff Fisher, the Rams coach, and asked him to use one of his three seventh-round picks on Sam and save the NFL the embarrassment of having to explain how the SEC co-defensive player on the year didn’t get picked.

If the NFL is to survive, they’d best remember the basic rules of selling a successful product.

Same with ESPN.

The next few years are critical for the Felon League, because with boomers losing interest and millennials having no attention span past an hour or so, who will they cater to? It’s ridiculous that an NFL game now lasts 4 hours.

Based on his performance, the NFL wouldn't have had to explain why Sams didn't get picked.

If he deserves one he will get one. Some team(likely the Rams) will answer the question - Can he help us win? in the affirmative and he will be on a roster.

Kaepernick’s performance degraded every season. Honestly, he peaked in college and showed promise. That promise never fully developed. His best option is to find his way into coaching somehow at some lower level and work up as a coach.

In life where there is competition for any position, no one deserves a position.

They have to earn it. Then they have to keep earning it to keep that position.

Finally, having anyone on a team/group does not allow them to become anti America rectums for their benefit or some radical anti America group.

I know...

Let's ask Goodell to take a lesson from the Rio Olympics and form a non-aligned Refugee Team operated by the league-at-large to take in all the discards.

Then let Kaepernick play for that team. Fill out the roster with all the other players rejected by the owner-teams. It can field the non-patriotic, wife-beating, dog-hating, gangsta players.

Fact is, NFL teams will hire anyone they think can give them an edge. Look at all the women beaters how have been on rosters.

Kap's numbers are bad. And, his workout in Seattle must really have sucked.

Oakland has a good and hard working young QB.

Oakland* has enough trash without adding more.

*Referring to the dangerous city of Oakland.

Last year Kap played for the worst team in the NFL and spent half the year on the bench. That’s all you need to know about why he’s not working now.

There is enough politics in the NFL as it is. We do not need more, we need zero.

Talent alone isn’t enough. If your behavior creates problems for other players, or drives away fans, then you are not doing your job as a foorball player. Prima Donnas, loafers, recreational drug users, lack of temper control, insubordination are all non-talent related causes to being a failure in the NFL and many other venues. Aaron Hernandez had NFL talent, it wasn’t sufficient.

I know, I was just trying to get a rise out of the Oakland fans. I still blame the team for injuring Jim McMahon early in his career (and an “inadvertent whistle” costing the Bears a TD)

Maybe he can get a job at Evergreen State!

Some team(likely the Rams) will answer the question

No! No! No!!!!!

we've cast our lot with Goff, we'll stick with him with a new coach and marginally improved offensive line) to allow him to develop.

If he REALLY wanted to play in the NFL, he would have his agent shop him to teams asking, "What would it take to get this done?" But he wants in on HIS terms...and there are no takers. Too bad... So sad... Take a hike (or a knee)

What the author doesn’t realize is that articles like this don’t help his cause. It just makes Kaepernick even more of a lightning rod, and a distraction, which is something teams don’t need.
