I think you’ve hit on the problem. It’s not the words - it is their improper use that is the problem.

It drives me nuts when people accuse others of being bigots simply because they disagree with them. Sometimes i actually post the definition of the word and then say, “which one of us is being the bigot. :-)

The single phrase that annoys me is “robust”, if only because it is overused. i.e. it is used where it does not really apply. It’s become a sort of marketing term

Then there’s “doubling down on...” Yuck, ew, yuck!

“resources” when you actually mean “employees” — hate! hate!

“expense” used as a verb — “I expensed that meal”

I don’t think these are “irritating” jargon. They are over-used, certainly, but the critics here will be hard pressed to come up with concise, precise equivalents that convey the idea just as well!
