My wife and I were loyal Bank of America customers for over ten years, until they tried to swindle us out of more than $2.000.
I had deposited a check from a customer for about $2.700 back in 2006. This was done at the teller inside the bank. My documentation clearly showed the full amount of my deposit, but later we discovered that BofA had only credited our account the $700.
Calling the branch manager did no good. She promised me she’d resolve the problem by the next business day, but nothing happened. Our account still showed a $700 credit, only.
I went into the branch to handle it face to face, and was told that I needed to provide further documentation to back up my claim. This, despite the fact that I showed the assistant manager their own photographic record.
I was forced to obtain a notarized copy of my customer’s personal bank records to prove that BofA had debited that exact amount from their bank account, and showing my business as the payee.
It was a complete nightmare, and caused a cascade of NSFs for us, as we’d already written checks against the full amount.
As soon as they restored the full amount to our account, and had waived the NSFs, we were gone.
