Got this back in an email, from a DA concerning Wasserman’s brother.
This doesn’t necessarily mean anything. Every attorney at a United States Attorney’s Office is called an Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA). Doesn’t mean that person is a supervisor. Number two is either the Chief Assistant or First Assistant, supervisors are usually styled Chief or Deputy Chief (of unit). Assistant US Attorney = schlub. There are lots of AUSAs, not just one.
Similarly, in Clark County NV DA’s Office there is an Assistant DA for Criminal and one for Civil, supervisors are Chief Deputies (and there a lot of Chief Deputies who aren’t supervisors), line prosecutors are Deputies. In San Francisco and New York, the worker bees are all Assistants, but the No. 2 is the Deputy.
Imo, not a whole lotta difference between steve wasserman & mccabe w/FBI.
