I would have put the opening battle of "Gladiator" on the list.

Oh yes, I was really irritated at “300”. absolutely terrible history. The Spartans were dressed like professional wrestlers.
Also the Empire’s storm troopers have the most useless armor ever invented. They were also among the world’s worst shots. Ever noticed that in the movies, good guys always wear vests?

Battle of The Pelennor Fields
That was cosmic for me back in 2003.
Sadly it has ruined every fantasy movie since then because the creators have felt the need to do large battles without the proper build-up. (See The First Chronicles or Narnia or OZ: The Great and Powerful)

If they had just started with the first book of the Aubrey/Maturin series they would have a rollicking good plot and would have had themselves a series. But, alas . . .
To: C19fan
Ditto, for the opening scene in Gladiator.

The 10 Best Fictional BattleJoel C. Rosenberg s The question as asked is schizophrenic. Historical fiction? Future speculation extrapolating real history? What?
If it's fictional battles, Star Wars counts I guess; if it is counted, I am looking forward to the proposed inevitable final battle which I understand has had film rights bought:
The nuclear exchange between good and evil in the Middle East, with Russia surreptitiously setting up the final fear scenario through assassinating leaders of both sides, between Israel and the koranimals.
The film should be a special effects master's dream.
Based on the very popular novels series by Joel C. Rosenberg.
Fair warning : supernatural intervention plays a major role.

300 was based on a graphic novel that was loosely based on history.
