Master and Commander is the single worst movie I have ever seen and anything about it is horrible...
If they had just started with the first book of the Aubrey/Maturin series they would have a rollicking good plot and would have had themselves a series. But, alas . . .
Have to disagree with you regarding Master and Commander. It is a movie that dedicated an immense amount of energy towards realism and authenticity. Peter Weir should have been given the Academy award for best director. The wardrobe and ship details were amazingly accurate. The plot, which was a script which wove together several of the books, was interesting and entertaining. The depictions of early 19th Century surgery, musket fire, cannon gunnery, and ship repair were unequalled in film, before or since.
