The raising isn't quite over yet

Ha! Like that will ever happen!
When my daughter was about 8, I was raking the leaves and she was watching me, but wandering out into the (quiet, I admit) street and making me worry. I told her several times to stay off the street. And it hit me:
“No wonder people get to be 40 yo adults, and their parents still worry over them like they were little. By the time children grow up, they have long since proved to their parents beyond all doubt that they are never gonna grow up."
