We have been told repeatedly in testimony by the intel chiefs to Congress and in interviews that they have ZERO evidence of the Trump campaign colluding with Russia to hack the Democrat emails.
Zero evidence. And they have all the databases of the telephone contacts, emails, financial transactions and everything else you could imagine.
It is not inappropriate for them to tell the FBI that there appears to be nothing here.
Where there is no evidence at all of this, how is it appropriate for the FBI to go rogue and send its agents on a fishing expedition looking for dirt against the president?
Could not I, if I were head of the FBI, say that I am concerned about a conspiracy of President Trump with Martians to attack Planet Earth, and even though I have no evidence of it, on that basis send teams of FBI agents out to investigate and try to dig up dirt on Trump and his close advisers?

So he merely asked the director to speak out IF there was no evidence. He didn’t ask him to be dishonest.
Trump is in charge of the executive branch. The intelligence agencies are not and never were “independent”.
The WaPo should try harder.
A big so what. The Russia story is phony, there is no evidence of anything, Trump knows it is fake because he knows he didn’t collude with the Russians. He asks his intelligence people to confirm that it is phony. How is that wrong?
Clapper told Congress he had found no collusion between Trump and Russia, nor was he aware of any FISA warrant.
McCabe told Reince that Trump was not under investigation for collusion with Russia.
Comey told Grassley and Feinstein that Trump was not under investigation for collusion with Russia.
Comey told Trump ‘three times’ that Trump was not under investigation for collusion with Russia.
Trump has been audited every year for 10 years and can substantiate via the IRS auditors and independent auditors that he has no compromising ties towards Russia.
Not to mention whatever govt vetting he goes through every time he licenses or builds in another country.
What’s left to discuss?
That Trump is proving a great president? yeah. He is.
