Early on in Christianities existence there were some brutal and evil popes. Then came Martin Luther. Trump’s speach to these 50+ countries was a Martin Luther treatise stabbed into the heart of SA. Remember what Martin Luther said.
It is a horrible and frightful thing that the ruler of Christendom, who boasts himself vicar of Christ and successor of St. Peter, lives in such worldly splendor that in this regard no king nor emperor can equal or approach him, and that he who claims the title of most holy and most spiritual is more worldly than the world itself. He wears a triple crown, when the greatest kings wear but a single crown; if that is like the poverty of Christ and of St. Peter, then it is a new kind of likeness.
Trump is potentially Islam’s Martin Luther.
Obviously you know much more about religion than I do, but I do hope the current pope does not influence Trump.
What was NOT said, but reflected in Trump's speech was "We know you now and this is your last friggin' chance to do very much better!"
As I said on another thread, Trump looked right at the Muslim world and told them, “You are better than you think you are.” A blatant beacon of hope (real hope, not Obama’s hope) against the violence and despair that Islam’s imams use to keep the people controlled.
And then he looked at the leaders and said, paraphrased, “Don’t f*** this up.”
It may work or it may not, but even reaching 1 out of 1000 Muslims is 16 million people.
And who knows? Being willing to embrace something better may lead them to the hope found in Christ.
