Built in 1968 by Standard Oil, this 10 story, midcentury modern building on Pico Boulevard is actually a roofless, four-sided enclosure that houses the Packard Well Site. Now owned by PXP, the Packard Well Site consists of 51 oil & gas wells.
Back in the mid-late 1980’s, my family knew a woman who told me that some of the skyscrapers on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles were actually hollow but contained oil wells.
I figured she knew what she was talking about; she was the sister-in-law of Bob Hope and handled many of his real estate holdings.
