The Social Security Administration has released its annual list and jumping 2,368 spots to 901 is Kylo, the character played by Adam Driver. It ended at 3,269 in 2015.
This comes as no surprise to BabynameWizard.com founder Laura Wattenberg who, the Associated Press reports, states that the names of villains are these days more likely to inspire parents than on-screen heroes.
The categorys popular culture-inspired runners up include Creed, Adonis (from Rocky sequel Creed) and Zayn, presumably after former One Direction singer Zayn Malik who is now enjoying a solo career in his own right.

For a Sith, he’s a pussy.
Pathetic character.
He murdered his own father...hey, what’s not to love? Why wouldn’t everyone love to name their kid after an assasin?
I will admit that the Star Wars movies and spinoffs and whatnot have turned me off of Disney Star Wars. I am a huge sci-fi fan, and so I’m sure I’m not alone. Just too damn preachy and diverse. have to have the arab shuttle pilot, the chinamen, the empowered womyn, what I like to call “wiseblack,” and on and on. Disney will add some trannies into the Star Wars mix once they start putting out the “Young Yoda Chronicles” or whatever. But, that being said, Kylo is a neat name.
a variation on Kyle?
Yes, or something like that.
Remember when people used to select such weird names as John, Robert, Richard, James, etc.? I feel for teachers today, what with all of the “cool” names....plus they fiddle around so that the spelling varies as well.
Kylo is your typical whiney, troubled teenager of today. Is that what parents are hoping to get?
You can tell the RadTrad Catholics. They name their kids after apostles, evangelists, martyrs...
The rest name their kids after rock stars and soap opera characters. Kimberly, Tiffany, Kayla, Kaden...YUCK!
In my work at high schools, I rarely encounter names such as John, Robert, Richard, James, etc., although the other day, I ran across a couple of teenagers named John and Johnny. It seems that in just about every other class, there's a boy named Angel. The Kylos will start showing up on high school roll sheets in a few years.
Besides, his real name is Ben. And his dad is way cooler. Call your kids Han if you haveta name them after a SW character. Kylo is not cool...he’s even whinier than Luke, and that’s saying a lot.
As for girls, I never see any young Lindas, Lynns, Anns or Marys anymore. If you encounter someone with one of those names, she is likely to be a baby boomer, as are men named Ken and Glen.
A boy named Angel? Oh for pity sake. How stupid.
I’m surprised you don’t many jar-jars
Han sounds Korean. One might choose Hans, which means "Jack" in German.
“For a Sith, hes a pussy.”
Indeed. He should be called Darth Pussy.
If I had the misfortune of being named Angel, I would probably insist on being called Abaddon or Apollyon (see Revelation 9:11)
