You would expect Austria and Germany, so close to the Soviet Union would field top teams.

it’s really an upgunned armored personnel carrier or infantry fighting vehicle
doesn’t stand a chance against a real tank but impressive none the less

North Korea is a more likely place for WW III, to start.

I see. Yes it does sound pretty formidable. Thanks.

Technically, the BMD is not a tank. It’s an amphibious infantry fighting vehicle specifically designed for airborne forces. It uses aluminum armor and has a 100mm rifled main gun.

Pathetic! US Army should have cleaned house. When I was in Germany we practically lived at Graf and were ready at a moments notice. The commanders should be embarrassed.

Let’s see, Italy had about 36 actual tanks ready about a year ago; Germany and France about 400 combined.
Russia? Was it 15,000?
Didn’t Putin say he could be in any capital in Europe in 2 weeks?
But don’t expect any NATO country to spend more on defense...
To: Chode
US finished third.
Used to have the Canadian Army Trophy (CAT) competition.
It was serious business.
You need to have a dedicated team. Pull out five tanks, 20 Master Gunners, full unit of mechanics including factory support.
Give them a year and all the fuel and ammunition they want to train up.

Given that the German Army is only allowed to work 41 hours per week because the nut-job Defense Minister is applying EU labor laws to the Bundeswehr, I would not get too excited about the proficiency of the modern Panzerwaffe.

Thanks very much. Well, it still sounds pretty formidable to rain “ not- quite tanks” down on an enemy. James Thurber wrote a story “hit on the head by a cow” — this sounds even worse, ha!

Is that what inspired the ditty:
Birdy birdy in the sky
Who drops whitewash in my eye
Am I sad? No not I
Only glad that cows can’t fly

You wouldn’t get hit in the head with a cow if you remembered to climb into the rabbit.
