Technically, the BMD is not a tank. It’s an amphibious infantry fighting vehicle specifically designed for airborne forces. It uses aluminum armor and has a 100mm rifled main gun.
Thanks very much. Well, it still sounds pretty formidable to rain “ not- quite tanks” down on an enemy. James Thurber wrote a story “hit on the head by a cow” — this sounds even worse, ha!
